EARTHRISE CELEBRATES 35TH ANNIVERSARY

Earthrise Nutritionals recently celebrated their 35 year anniversary as one the world’s leading spirulina producers. Earthrise has been spending the past 35 years perfecting the production of spirulina, the highly nutritious superfood algae.

Earthrise began with humble beginnings in the little town of Calipatria, CA in 1981 as the first commercial producer of spirulina. Now the farm has grown and Earthrise operates the world’s largest Spirulina farm on a 108-acre site to supply over 20 countries with the world’s best known Spirulina. In the clean, sunny California desert, Earthrise® Spirulina yields more nutrition per acre than any other food.

In 1981, Earthrise® developed a partnership with a Japanese company, Dainippon Ink and Chemicals (DIC), a diversified product company with a commitment to developing microalgae for food, biochemicals and pharmaceuticals that had just begun growing Spirulina in Thailand. This unique partnership between California entrepreneurs and Japanese corporate intrapreneurs flourished to a dynamic growth of Spirulina production as well as its market worldwide. In 2005, Earthrise® Nutritionals was wholly owned by Dainippon Ink and Chemicals. (the present DIC corporation) Today, our farm is the world’s largest Spirulina farm, and together with our sister company’s farm in China, DIC group is the largest Spirulina producer in the world.

Our eco-friendly farm is located in the Sonoran Desert of southeastern California far from highways, airports and cities. Our Spirulina is grown under strict quality control procedures without the use of pesticides and herbicides. We follow FDA Good Manufacturing and HACCP practices to produce a safe product of the highest quality in the industry. We are ISO and GMP certified. We use closed-loop water and nutrient recycling during the production process to care for you and the environment. Spirulina is unique, safely thriving in high-alkaline waters where other organisms cannot survive. This helps ensure a high degree of purity, without contamination.
